A Day at the Office

Each day I struggle with reality,

With the infrastructural banality.

My head is down, my nose to the grindstone,

With my emails, faxes and telephone.

I’m bored with the nine-to-five normality,

The life of opulent frugality,

I’m working my fingers down to the bone,

With my emails, faxes and telephone.

When five o’clock comes, it’s time to knock off,

Time to go home; see the kids and the wife;

Sit down to dinner; a glass of red wine.

It’s my only choice, though many may scoff,

To stay in touch with the good things in life;

To feel I belong to the grand design.
