In The Meantime

It is hard to know what to write about

Do you start with some thematic rhyme

That invariably ends up discussing clocks

Or perhaps you discuss current events

 

Maybe you decide that the classics

Are classics for a reason, and that

Imitation truly is the deepest form of flattery

Or else that free form is the truest path

 

But if you are brave, there’s only one topic

One thing to discuss, to dissect and dissemble

True art only asks just one thing

And the rest naturally falls by the wayside

 

What is locked in your deepest heart?

Will you fight to make it so?

Who is stopping you?

Why are you waiting?
